Cue the Record — In Residence at Studio Contro

Founded in 2024, Cue the Record is an NYC‑based collective that brings people together through a shared love of music and analog sound. CTR’s goal is to turn albums into fully immersive experiences—and they are in residence as a community programming partner at Contro from August through December 2025.

As a Community Programming Resident at Studio Contro, Cue the Record curates intentional listening sessions, selector‑driven DJ sets, and record store pop‑ups that turn passive hearing into communal experience.

CTR layers each program with story—history, samples, social context. Centering hi‑fi analog sound and adaptive, community‑responsive add‑ons (from workshops to collaborative events), the residency deepens relationships and broadens access to the cultural life of Brooklyn.

CTR is founded by Semaj Davis and Mustafa Ali-Smith.
